A 15th Annual Fall Tradition in Lake George Village
Lake George Oktoberfest returns to Canada Street for its 15th year on October 9–11, 2026, timed to Columbus Day Weekend. For three days, the heart of Lake George Village transforms into a Bavarian-style street fair celebrating the arrival of fall in the Adirondacks, with entry free to all. Lake George Village Oktoberfest runs Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine, with large tented areas providing cover if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
German Food and the Adirondack Beer Garden
Authentic German fare fuels the festival, including bratwurst, knackwurst, weisswurst, giant pretzels, German potato salad, and smoked turkey legs, along with warm desserts throughout the weekend. Lake George’s own Adirondack Pub & Brewery hosts the beer garden, pouring a seasonal Oktoberfest lager alongside pilsner, IPA, hefeweizen, hard cider, and hard lemonade, plus wines from Adirondack Winery for guests who prefer something other than beer. Food and drink purchases are cash only, though ATMs are available on site.
Music, Dancing, and Oktoberfest Traditions
Traditional German polka bands and Bavarian dance troupes perform throughout the weekend, with the full lineup announced closer to the event. Saturday’s schedule includes the festival’s best-known traditions: stein hoisting (“Masskrugstemmen”) and keg toss competitions for men and women, followed by the ceremonial cask tapping, “O’zapft is!,” that officially opens the beer garden for the evening. Visitors can also look for the crowd-favorite Dancing Chicken, along with local artisan vendors and carnival rides set up along Canada Street.
Family-Friendly Activities and Games
Lake George Oktoberfest is designed for all ages, with free pumpkin painting and lawn games like cornhole, giant Connect Four, and giant Jenga available throughout the weekend at no cost. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome at the festival, and the grounds are fully handicap accessible.
Getting to Oktoberfest and Parking
Lake George Village Oktoberfest takes place along Canada Street and at Shepard Park in downtown Lake George, NY. Canada Street is closed to vehicle traffic for the duration of the festival, so free parking is available instead in the Biscotti Brothers/High Peaks Distilling lot at 1 Canada Street, with additional free parking on the surrounding side streets.
