Spend New Year’s Day celebrating in Lake George… literally!
Every New Year’s Day, hundreds of true winter enthusiasts take a dip into beautiful Lake George. The Polar Plunge has been a First Day tradition since 1973. Revelers in bathing suits and costumes dash into the icy lake. But most don’t stay in long! Plunges are held in waves of 400 people, with the first wave entering the icy waters at 1:00 PM on New Year’s Day. Additional waves will follow at 1:15 PM and 1:30 PM. Water shoes are highly recommended!
Details:
Sign up starts on New Year’s Eve from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and again on New Year’s Day at 10:30 AM at Duffy’s Tavern. Long sleeve polar plunge shirts will be available for $15. Proceeds go to the Springfield Shriners Hospital, the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department, and other fire departments helping the event.
Later on, celebrate at the New Year’s Day Polar Plunge Party with The Karaoke by Sam at Duffy’s from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
